anglais A twisted and rather entertaining paraphrase of superhero movies. It's "sick", but mostly it's fun and very wacky. Don’t expect good performances and technical aspects, or an imaginative script, but loads of great ideas and fun. ()

anglais The aesthetics of the 1980s B-movies were really strange - a moronic story, annoying disco, but also a sympathetic hero, plenty of busty blondes, a whirlwind of bloody violence, retarded humor, and a fairly sympathetic gradation, enough to flush your brain to the brink of lobotomy. The Toxic Avenger fulfills all of these aspects to a T. There’s not a drop of seriousness, lots of immortal catchphrases, and I give it four stars! PS: Toxie on the movie poster is the best. ()

anglais B-movie studio Troma has produced a lot of crap and the Toxic Avenger franchise is their flagship. A stupid script, overacting actors, creepy 80s disco music, a splatter scene here and there, and most importantly, a super-hero, an impetuous enforcer of the law, punishing criminals and helping citizens in need. Originally a scrawny and shy geek, he inadvertently bathed in toxic waste and transformed into a muscleman with "unclean skin" and a ballet dress around his waist. A proper B-movie that doesn’t take itself seriously at all and whose utter stupidity is the funniest thing about it. Perfect for a painless brain flush. ()

anglais I am only rating how much fun I had, and I’m not gonna lie, I laughed a lot. The unbridled 80s feeling full of nudity, faux gore and intrusive disco songs is present to an extent that even Pamela Anderson's chest doesn't have, and when the toxic mop-wielding superhero finally enters the stage (after a very harrowing first quarter of an hour) (Marvel really slept hard here), a very entertaining rush begins. It is, of course, stupid in every sense, the actors are terrible and the logic is absent, but at the same time it is endearingly over the top and at times dangerously funny and self-parodic. If you're a fan of these unserious corners of cinema, I'm sure you've always dreamed of seeing a monster made of garbage frolicking with his sexy girlfriend at sunset – here you’ll get that with interest.
