Who doesn't know the story of Scrooge, the selfish grump and Christmas hater. This latest adaptation approaches Dickens' timeless classic as material for a visually rich musical. Personally, I wasn't entirely sold on the premise. The songs detracted from the story rather than adding another dimension to it. I commend the creators for their imaginative approach to Scrooge's encounters with the ghosts of the Past, Present and Future, even if that creativity faded a bit in the weaker animation. Of the three sequences with the Ghosts, I was most impressed with the first one, while the second one seemed a bit wild already. Otherwise Prudence was a real sweetheart. PS: I'd be quite interested to see how Tim Burton or Guillermo del Toro would approach “A Christmas Carol”. ()
