Ren'ai bókun

Love Tyrant is hilarious, playful, and incredibly stupid. However, that is definitely the best way with comedy, and I actually quite like unpretentious shows whose main purpose is simply to entertain you. Well, this show did that in spades. I mean, how could it not, when you have such a nice selection of totally wacky and crazy characters that are mostly very likable? The soundtrack suits the show perfectly, there are lots of nice colors in the animation, so it is quite nice to watch. Unfortunately, the jokes do get repetitive over time, and therefore, the punchlines become quite predictable. Therefore, when the show tries to address something more serious (Akane and her mom, Guri and her search for the meaning of love), it just somehow does not work for me. However, as a sort of a bite-size breezy no-brainer, it still worked well enough for me. 6.3/10. (23/06/2017)
