Stranger Things (2016)

anglais A chilling retro of the Spielberg-King school. Abrams has competition... An excellently graded horror drama actually written by Stephen King (and who can’t recognize echoes from It or Talisman?) and is still original in its approach. The serial form allows for sufficient character development and building up tension. The Upside Down and things connected with him is the terrifying place and, together with Eleven, perform some great things. Great effects, even though the flashing finale is unbearable for epileptics, it made the hair all over my body stand on end. Everybody is great in acting terms, just Winona overacts rather. I look forward to what the next season offers. Season Two: Typically, season two offers more of everything, everything is bigger and everything happens faster. Pairing up of characters sets of in unexpected directions, but the discovery of the world inside out still takes place only very gradually. Jane is put off onto the sidelines so that some sort of danger that wouldn’t matter could arise, but the whole storyline with searching for her sister just holds back the action. Otherwise again it’s a great watch in Stephen King style. ()

Season 2 (2017) (S02)

Season 3 (2019) (S03)

anglais The Soviets are in fashion this year. After remembering Chernobyl, it turns out that they had something to do with making holes through to the other side. The romantic storyline from the first episode doesn't have the wow factor that I would have expected, but once “Shitface" comes on the scene, it starts to get heavy. All apart from that brutal flashing light; horror can be done in other ways… The new characters are fine, the references are very well done this year and the season finale is a huge tear-jerker. ()

Season 4 (2022) (S04)

anglais The Duffer bros reveal history, explain and clarify, shock and amaze. Despite the bother of a series of ritual murders, season four makes it to a grand finale, tying up all the loose ends in an unbelievable ending that leaves the door wide open for lots more adventures. I was surprised by the number of dead bodies and horrifying injuries and the mind-pitting duels are done excellently. The perfect accompanying music is enhanced by hits from the eighties, my favorite being Master of Puppets. P.S.: And we get a whole lot of other period details, be it Conan’s Sword, King’s Talisman and the series has at last reached the year of my birth, 1986! ()
