In an imaginary central European city, the highly addictive computer game Avalon offers lavish financial rewards as well as a dangerous and seductive escape from the bleak realities of everyday life. Ash is a professional, a highly skilled player moving back and forth between actual and virtual realities with ease. A loner, estranged from her fellow man, Ash is close only to her beloved pet dog. Ghost is an Avalon character, a target who appears as a young girl. On-screen contact with Ghost has left previous players - including Ash's former lover Murphy - terminally damaged. Devoid of all consciousness and condemned to waste away in a sanatorium, they are known as The Lost. (Wild Bunch Distribution)

anglais A victory of form over content? Wonderfully filmed, badly acted and long-winded, underscored by the beautiful music of Kenji Kawai and a surprisingly good atmosphere. This was evidently low-budget, but maybe because of this the visuals have a certain charm. If Oshi had filmed it as an anime instead, it might have been better. This way give it a low 3/5. ()

anglais "Deadly Avalon" didn't impress me in either form or content. It felt incredibly empty to me, with an emphasis on how it looks, but in reality, even the visual aspect is not great, just interesting. I'm not a big player, but I am not far from playing, yet this movie felt targeted towards someone completely different. I don't know who. ()
