anglais I’m giving it an average rating, but the only thing that The Haunted World of El Superbeasto isn’t is average. The overwhelming blend of references to everything possible carries the visible signature of Rob Zombie and, although it isn’t particularly hilarious, I did laugh a couple of times. 6/10 ()

anglais Rob Zombie and his concept of "pop culture," which in this case means referencing everything he can think of (TV products – including commercials, Nazis, zombies, Dr. Satan, porn, manga, kaiju-eiga, classic horror movies...). Objectively, this film can certainly be accused of being a patchwork with not much of a story that could have done without Superbeast. Yet I think the opposite is true, as the leitmotif about the siblings saving the world is so primitive that it holds up perfectly given the rest of it, whose level of fun depends mainly on the audience’s willingness to agree to this hellishly sick game. I haven’t had this good a time in quite a while. 4 ½ (I’m setting aside the final ½ until I watch it again). ()

anglais I didn't know how to approach it for the first 30 minutes, or for the remaining 48. I give a star for every pop culture reference and throwaway joke I recognized that made me laugh. Minus 311, that gives it five stars. ()

anglais Rob Zombie made The Haunted World of El Superbeasto as a kind of homage to himself, his worlds, his ideas. And it worked out great for him. The animation works, the music is really great and the story is sufficiently catchy that you will probably be entertained until the end. Definitely an unconventional film. It may not be horror, but you will experience something unique. ()
