anglais Surprisingly, it wasn't as stupid as I feared. I mean... Yes, of course... It was stupid, of course, but in a better way. Phil Tippett is not a bad director at all, the action sequences (which is what the Starship Troopers sequel is all about) work well and he squeezed the most out of the limited budget, which makes the bugs look really good and we got an interesting new species. The script isn't completely futile either, the blood and black humor are unforgettable and the "performances" are comparable to the original film... It's simply a TV production, and so it simply cannot be as sweeping as Verhoeven's masterpiece. If there was a series, I think this comparison would fall away and the bugs would find TV fans easier. anglais Such a fairly simple B-movie that tries to follow up on the media coverage of war, as Verhoeven did in the first film, but it doesn't have sufficient means or sufficient skill when it comes to film media. It's not that shocking of a B-movie, but I'm sure that the next day I won't remember anything from it. ()

anglais This movie probably won't make it into the golden vault of cinematography, but that's not a reason to say it's a complete piece of sh*t. In my opinion, there are plenty of people like me, who were hooked on the first one and will enjoy this so-called sequel as well. Rico is missing, and it's a bit amusing to see Brenda Strong in the cast. She played the uptight (literally) captain of the starship in the first one, and here we have her as a super hot cool marine with a weakness for Cuban monster cigars, and honestly, it suits her perfectly! For me, it's a great movie because it somewhat stays true to the original source, and those propaganda recruitment videos keep playing, that exaggerated sense of civic duty and genuine loyalty and pride of all the US Marines going into that damn bug war :D For me, this works mainly because it's set in a single location (an abandoned base) and we slowly massacre a group from the inside. The idea of bug infiltration is brilliant, and the execution is almost morbid (through coitus and smooching), especially the scene in the shower with the "discarded" technician, which is probably the most memorable (literally). Anyone who rates this piece as Boo! probably didn't really understand what the movie is trying to do, but I understand and I get it :) I say it's a fuckin' awesome movie, bro! ()
