The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

anglais The final installment of this trilogy may be brilliantly shot, but that doesn't mean it's a perfect cinematic experience in the slightest. Logic, emotion and a deeper message are noticeably absent. Christopher Nolan wallows in his own pomposity and megalomania, which was also behind it being terribly overlong. Not even the acting is too commendable, which I don't understand, especially considering the stellar cast. (45%)

La Douleur (2017)

anglais I don't have any major complaints about this psychological drama, it just could have been a bit shorter, leaving out the more boring passages. I really liked the cameraman's work, especially the last shot I was impressed with. It felt like Marguerite Duras’ painful thoughts had materialized. Apart from the very convincing Mélanie Thierry in the lead role, Benoît Magimel caught my attention as he has put on some weight, but he is still in great acting form. I'm sorry he didn't get more space; his interaction with Mélanie is definitely one of the most interesting moments of the entire film. (70%)

Peppermint (2018)

anglais I like Jennifer Garner quite a bit, but it seems to me that she has once again stepped way out of line by accepting the lead role in this action flick with its impotent screenplay. Not even a seasoned director like Pierre Morel was able to improve on this completely uninteresting and boring story. (35%)

Nebe (2021)

anglais Journalist Tomáš Etzler discovered a small islet of love in this absolutely inhumane society in the shape of a Catholic orphanage, which unfortunately no longer exists. This information that appeared in the closing credits touched me deeply. The whole documentary is extremely emotionally charged and I was very impressed. I would say the most devastating is the footage of a woman being hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing. She lay there for quite a long time completely unnoticed by passers-by, several times trying to get up on her own, before she was (finally!) run over by another passing vehicle... I never had any illusions about China, yet I was literally shocked by the fact that the perverse regime there seems to have brainwashed most of the population to the point where they are incapable of compassion and empathy. Les Cerveaux (2016)

anglais Zach Galifianakis has never been one of the actors whose films I would seek out, but I really liked him here. Mainly thanks to his comedic talents, I laughed quite a lot during this funny diversion. I was even amused by the toilet and genital humor, although I could have equally done without it. (65%)

Kollision (2019)

anglais Nikolaj Lie Kaas is a great actor and once again he was far from disappointing. He's totally believable as a guy whose life is crumbling in his hands. (85%)

Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

anglais I expected it to be much worse, to tell you the truth, but surprisingly I had a pretty good time. Watching the movie, I was nostalgic for the original Terminator, which James Cameron gave a unique atmosphere. Director Tim Miller certainly didn't disgrace himself, and came very close to the overall mood of the 1984 movie. Unfortunately, however, the writers didn't do much with the story, at times it runs out of breath. (65%)

The Courier (2019)

anglais It's a mystery to me why Gary Oldman accepted a role in this action flick riddled with a bunch of stupid dialogue, especially considering the fact that the filmmakers didn't bother with logic and they were pretty bad at building tension. (25%)

The Dark Knight - Le Chevalier noir (2008)

anglais Although I'm not exactly rhapsodic about this, I'm willing to admit that it's a pretty good movie. Its main strengths are undoubtedly the superb cast and performances. I must say that the script is also quite good. However, the film would definitely benefit from a shorter running time, some passages are, in my opinion, unnecessarily long and boring. I don't want to offend anyone, everyone has different tastes, but there are certainly much better comic book adaptations than the much-praised The Dark Knight. (70%)

Vlci na hranicích (2020)

anglais I was looking forward to shots of wolves in the wild, but paradoxically I didn't get to see any at all. Instead, I got an unpleasant view of wolves in human form, the most galling of whom were the self-important farmers, who are basically only interested in money and don't really care about the welfare of the sheep, even though they love to use this argument. I must admit, however, that everyone was given the opportunity to express their views and opinions. Mainly for this reason it is a relatively successful documentary, but apart from the absence of real wolves, I would also reproach it for the excessive length of some passages, especially in the first half.
