français Tentative de suite directe de l'original (après de nombreuses années) avec un casting malheureux et un scénario médiocre, une seule scène mémorable - un massacre sanglant dans un bus. Cela semblait être l'idée de départ des scénaristes, autour de laquelle ils ont ensuite construit le reste de l'intrigue encombrante. Sur le plan de la réalisation, cela aurait certainement pu être amélioré avec une atmosphère plus captivante et des personnages plus intéressants, mais cela ne s'est pas produit. Et la grand-mère, qui veut se venger en tant que seule survivante du premier film pour le traumatisme de sa jeunesse, est presque ridicule. ()

anglais I didn’t mind it. Considering how troubled the production was, and that it landed quietly on Netflix instead of heading to theaters, the new addition to the Leatherface franchise is quite fine (certainly better than the last two, maybe three films). I applaud the short runtime and the hearty gore scenes. What is disappointing is the little space they gave to Sally from the original film (she's only here because legacy sequels are modern now, and she misses her chance to be satisfied years later) and the flatness of the other characters - they sometimes talk just to talk. Of course, it could have been a lot better, but if I'm going to take it as a slasher one-off, I don't have much to complain about (especially compared to, say, the last return of another iconic horror character, the more ambitious Halloween Kills). ()

anglais It took 50 years for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to finally live up to its name. From my point of view, it was euphoria and a return fifteen years back to the time of hits as Haute Tension, Deathly Hallows, Martyrs, The Hills have Eyes, etc. Hixploitation is a sub-genre that has been slowly disappearing in horror, and I welcome open arms this comeback after maybe five years to a genre I love. If you are a true gore hound and like proper carnage, I can't believe you didn't smile from ear to ear with happiness and joy while watching this. The LGBT community, intellectual posers, wet teens and nerds swooning at the first murder will of course snort, because after re-watching The Father, their Netflix automatically loaded the most watched movie of the week, thinking they were going to get a slow burn drama from Texas about a creepy guy selling chainsaws in a run-down shop at the end of town, chugging beer at sunset, while uttering philosophical musings about the demise of the world and dealing with everyday adult obstacles. Of course, by the time he learns that he has cancer and incipient Alzheimer's and thus can no longer care for his two autistic sons, they've all been cruelly misled into thinking this won't be the kind of movie they'll watch with their grandparents. Now, finally, on to the movie. It's beautiful! An excellent showcase of gore scenes with a body-count so high that it could kick the ass of any horror film in the last five years in terms of gore. I can't remember anything else. The film is only a mer 80 minutes long and after a 20 minute intro it kicks in. Leatherface puts on the creepies mask of his career and goes cut everyone on sight, crashing, crunching bones, and mutilating people in dozens of ways, with intestines, severed heads, dismembered bodies, and severed limbs flying willi-nilly. There is no limit to the creativity and ideas in killing people here, it's uncompromising R-rated, almost NC17, which is not done nowadays, and I was completely ALIVE while watching it! I must also praise the cinematography and especially the soundtrack. There are a few jump-scares and whenever Leatherface is on the scene it's intense, raw, evil, bleak and cold. You can feel the characters' lives snuffing out palpably and the scene on the bus is already an instant cult classic that will be popping up in various YouTube videos 10 years from now. It's silly, it's cheesy, the characters are unlikeable, but it's so fucking entertaining and so fucking brutal that I forgive all these flaws with a smile on my face. This is what I lovel, and for those who don’t, you still have plenty of dramas in store. P.S. All those who gave 4 stars have my sympathy and are a guarantee that true horror fans haven’t died yet. Story 2/5, Action 4/5, Humor 2/5, Violence 5/5, Fun 5/5 Music 5/5, Visuals 4/5, Atmosphere 3/5, Suspense 4/5, Emotion 2/5, Actors 3/5. 8.5/10. ()

anglais I'm not a particularly big fan of the original film, but I've probably become a fan of this one. Yes, they copied as much as they could from the new Halloween, but the result is not at all bad and the only weakness I see is that Olwen Fouéré is simply not Jamie Lee Curtis. In short, it's a more than solid, uncompromising film that offers a lot of great genre scenes even before the chainsaw roars for the first time and before something SO big happens on the bus that the "carnage" in the title isn't an exaggeration. Even though the film simply follows the beaten path, it’s a great ride. And that ending, my God, that ending! ()

français Tout en regardant le film, je disais à ma copine combien il était intéressant de constater que certaines franchises du genre épouvante continuaient depuis des décennies, se recyclaient sans cesse et avaient toujours un public. Et moi, j’en fais partie, même si certaines versions ou certains volets me plaisent moins ; je ne reste pas moins curieux de découvrir une nouvelle façon de présenter les choses. Mais cette fois-ci, mon enthousiasme n’est pas vraiment au rendez-vous. J’apprécie quand même l’écriture du monde contemporain, mais pour ce qui est de l’histoire, on repassera. Et le public masculin était accoutumé à un personnage féminin fort et plein de charme, ce qui fait cruellement défaut ici. ()

anglais A desperate attempt to update a cult classic, where I find it somewhat comforting that it could have turned out even worse. There's some pretty cool carnage in places, but the overall lack of imagination leaves you with the impression of a dull and uninventive copy of the original film, with only a casting change and the addition of cell phones. And the occasional tension of the atmosphere doesn't really save it, unfortunately. [50%] ()
