A.I. Intelligence artificielle

A.I. est un film remarquable, extravagant et futuriste qui souhaite être à la fois un conte pour les masses et une réflexion philosophique sur les sujets les plus complexes de la place de l'intelligence artificielle dans notre monde. Formellement, il est parfait. La musique de John Williams est une fois de plus brillante, la performance de Haley Joel Osment, dont l'évolution du personnage est le fil conducteur de l'histoire, est excellente et le design du monde futuriste (surtout de la "cité du lion qui pleure" dans les scènes finales) est époustouflant. Cependant, d'un point de vue complexe de réalisation, le film est étrange et chaotique. Lorsque Spielberg s'est saisi de cette histoire, il aurait dû se concentrer sur ce qui lui est proche et en faire une œuvre onirique, émotionnelle et captivante. A little different than I expected, but that's probably what made A.I. that much better. Spielberg's science fiction movies are among my favorites, and this one's no exception. Especially the ending (featuring the World Trade Center) was very impressive. Spielberg simply knows how to do these things. Haley Joel Osment was great and really impressive in his special role. The special effects are top notch, Williams' music is one of the best, and Teddy is cool :-). (25/07/2007)

No, I wasn't expecting miracles, which was good, because there weren't any. The emotions of the story of the "dream robot" are maintained mainly by the flawless Osment, but it is a pity that Spielberg has kind of forgotten how to make an ending. Like Minority Report, A.I. is stretched into an awkward happy ending. If the credits had surfaced a few minutes earlier, it would have been an excellent film, but the offered end is hellish nonsense. It’s too bad. Convincing visually and in terms of acting, this is a science fiction with a little more thoughtful subtext, but Spielberg can do better. Add a half to the three stars. (25/01/2004)

A captivating and visionary sci-fi film that is unlike anything ever made before. It's not worth arguing about whether Kubrick would have done it better or worse. Spielberg made the film the way he wanted and did not embarrass his colleague. A technically flawless film with beautifully ethereal music and excellently chosen actors. A great experience and once again, one of the masterpieces of world cinema that will most likely never be fully appreciated. (26/10/2003)

Kubrick behind the concept, Spielberg the creator, and in the end, a beautiful film full of naive searching, simple and human thoughts, breathtaking performances by Osment and Law, and a conclusion that can mentally overwhelm. I admire this film for being able to combine traditional Spielbergian family values with a fascinating vision of the future, a plethora of technical gadgets, and many intellectual stimuli.
