It was the hot summer of 1942, with Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini spreading the wings of war over Europe. So what hasn't happened in our beloved fundamentally democratic USA? Wonder Woman, the DC Universe's most glamorous heroine, has seen the light of day, dressed in a chic costume with stars and stripes. Long live Lynda Carter and her cutest smile on 1970s TV! This divinely entertaining pilot episode put all the tricky attempts to bring Wonder Woman from the comics to the small screen behind it and glued audiences to the new series for the next three years. It’s wonderful even with the hindsight of years, playfully overshadowing a similar piece from the 1990s - Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. ()
