(Crunchyroll)

anglais The Silver Guardian is not a great anime series, even though the first few episodes are OK. I found both the main male and female protagonists slightly intriguing, and their initial encounters inside the game were fine. I did not mind the emphasis on the social differences and the love story subplot in general. Unfortunately, however, it turned into a typical "save the princess, then save the world" adaptation from about the fifth or sixth episode on. It is set against a strange backdrop full of the usual Japanese nonsense, where a giant Egyptian mecha emerges from a pyramid, the girls have cat ears and other conventional costumes. It also sometimes smacks of cheap fan service. The whole thing became confused, a bit stupid, and the original narrative got lost somewhere in a pile of not-so-funny craziness. So when I got through the eighth episode and today was skipping through the ninth one, I decided that it does not make any sense for me to watch this anime series, so I am going to quit while I am still not completely sick of it. It is probably worth two stars (if only for the nice ending and even the fairly tolerable first few episodes). Dropped after the ninth episode and 3.2/10. ()
