(Warner Bros. FR)

anglais Ocean’s 8 is not that different from Ocean’s Eleven. Same number of famous actresses, I had the same neutral feeling about each of them, only Cate Blanchett looked at least a bit like a femme fatale and Helena Bonham Carter didn’t disappoint with her standard avant-garde style. Otherwise the movie was full of characters without emotions. And there was a plan whose probability to succeed was 1 to a billion. Moreover, same things keep happening over and over again so the ending is full of “shocking” moments which prove how Sandra Bullock had this genius robbery of the millennium all thought out. Same old, same old over and over again. The interesting thing is that I do like the individual actresses but I had quite a hard time to get to like any one of them in this movie. I don’t know if it is a trademark of this type of movies but it was the same with Ocean’s Eleven. ()

anglais Sandra Bullock and her crew are about to steal a three-pound diamond necklace, and they want to look good doing it. Ocean’s 8 wants to be as cool as Ocean’s Eleven, but this gang lacks the charm and some serious thievery to pull it off. Instead, there's plenty of luxury, expensive clothes and jewellery, and all too often the feeling that you're looking at an overpriced fashion catalogue rather than a heist crime comedy. ()

anglais I didn't really buy it, but it was a very pleasant surprise. A very strong female cast, dominated by Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway, but Cate Blanchett and Rihanna are also good. The film keeps a solid pace throughout and I really enjoyed watching the planning of the heist as well as the execution, which was delivered intelligently and engagingly enough with a nice final twist included. I also liked the insurance man Columbo, so a decent heist entertainment. 80%. ()

anglais A film full of irony. Partially because of Sandra Bullock, who phones it in the entire time and somewhat cruises through the heist, leaving the attention to others and allowing Anne Hathaway to effortlessly become the queen with her cheeky role tailor-made for her. But mainly because the whole gang sticks together only by chance, and the viewer is only on the same wavelength with them at pivotal moments – all for James Corden to walk away with all the glory at the very end. For how half-heartedly the whole spin-off behaves, it doesn't even reach halfway in the genre. ()

anglais A very pleasant film. It’s the female version of Ocean's Eleven to Ocean's Thirteen. Ocean's 8 is a joy to behold. There’s a bunch of great actresses in great roles and in even better masks and costumes. Who wouldn't succumb to it? ()

anglais A perfectly cast spin-off that doesn't put the franchise to shame. I don't think Danny even needed to be mentioned that many times, because Debbie and her crew could have done without him. Is there really no movie coming up where the ladies and the guys meet? And will there be a sequel where we’ll find out whether Debbie’s and Lou’s relationship is all that is hinted on here? ()

anglais Even the participation of a plethora of famous actresses evidently wasn't enough for Gary Ross to direct a quality crime thriller. It was really just a chance to participate, not in the filming of a movie, but in a show of luxury and superficiality. Sarah Paulson was the only one who made an effort to act a bit, while the rest of the cast just showed off their exteriors. Apparently, the girls had it in their job description because otherwise, I can't explain why they tarnished their reputations so much with this. And as if that weren't enough, the screenplay steered clear of this nonsense with a wide berth, and humor seemed to have taken a vacation just to be safe. (25%) ()
