If I understood the author of the book correctly, every witch (and wizard) could choose their appearance, which was then enhanced by magic. Maybe I've been living in a bubble, but I've never encountered a woman who fully embraced the idea of being hunchbacked, overweight, or with a nose evoking the most famous portrait of Vlad the Impaler. I had plenty of time for these musings because, once again, the plot left a lot to be desired. / Lesson learned: Netflix once again asserted its values with the subtlety of a steamroller. 1*-
