La Montagne entre nous

Une romance très belle avec une chimie relationnelle fonctionnelle sur une base d'histoire d'amour pas si simple. Winslet et Elba sont super. La fin est correcte, mais elle serait encore meilleure si elle était plus douce. (13/11/2017)

There’s already been quite enough plane crashes into American mountains in Hollywood. But when you add a high-quality filmmaking craft to the premise, it can’t be disappointing. Even though it’s only a three-star (therefore mediocre) movie, the overall impression isn’t bad at all. The camera work offers some gorgeous shots of the Canadian Panorama Mountain Village and the acting is worth it, too. (13/09/2018)

While the film had its bright moments, they were outweighed by boredom, plot nonsense (the flawless emergency landing of a practically dead pilot) and a totally mind-numbing ending. Not that I want to underestimate Idris Elba's parameters, but The Mountain Between Us? Come on. I got over the title eventually, but the two survivors deeply disappointed me by leaving the pilot for later, but completely ignoring him afterwards, and then constantly lamenting over the lack of food. I was appalled by the highly unsanitary scene in the cabin, and I was incredibly happy that the screen cannot transmit odor along with picture and sound. I also didn't understand why those two kept acting like it was freezing cold, when it turned out that the ice on the lake was pretty damn thin. I’d rather not comment on the ending. Anyway, the scenery was breathtaking. (06/03/2018)

I liked the fact that the survival part is not unnecessarily filmed like an action film, but instead it is a rather contemplative film with a slow pace. However, then it came to the finale and I thought that it was actually screwed up, that it was all because of the bad last part, and I think that's a real shame. (22/01/2018)
