It seemed like a great idea when all-around nice guy Max and his beautiful girlfriend, Evelyn moved in together. But when Evelyn turns out to be a controlling, manipulative nightmare, Max knows it's time to call it quits. There's just one problem: he's terrified of breaking up with her. Fate steps in when Evelyn is the victim of a fatal, freak accident, leaving Max single and ready to mingle. Just as Max is thinking about moving on with what could be his dream girl, Olivia - Evelyn has returned from the grave and is determined to get her boyfriend back...even if that means transforming him into one of the undead. I would imagine that a short film story or, conversely, a black-humored sitcom series would be produced based on this idea, but there was really too little for a full-feature film. Joe Dante tried to sneak in as much love for classic horror films as he could, but with that shallow contemporary script, it just couldn't come together. A few bright moments this film may have, but I won't remember them for long.

Burying the Ex manque de sérieux pour un film d’horreur, mais est trop pince-sans-rire pour une comédie. Je comprends parfaitement qu’une partie du public n’aura pas ce film dans son cœur. Moi, je n’en attendais pas grand-chose et, en fin de compte, je me suis régalé. Alan Trezza n’est peut-être pas le meilleur des scénaristes, mais il est passionné par le genre et, de par sa collaboration avec Joe Dante, il en ressort un chouette hommage au cinéma d’horreur. Non seulement on y trouve toute une série de références à la pop culture, mais en plus, on peut apercevoir dans presque toutes les scènes une affiche de film accrochée au mur ou un film d’horreur en noir et blanc passant sur une télé. Anton Yelchin dans son rôle d’homme soumis divertit, Alexandra Daddario se laisse regarder et on ne serait pas en présence d’un véritable film de Joe Dante sans la participation du vétéran de série B Dick Miller. Un vrai flashback sur les années 80.

Gradually, the film "Burying the Ex" loses its charm and the joke isn't that great, maybe you will stop laughing completely, but I still enjoyed this movie and had a good time as I expected. This is simply the type of film that entertains me. It's not a masterpiece, but the effort to make something enjoyable for the audience from a relatively simple screenplay is evident. And I simply enjoyed it. The young actors are cool.
