La Maison au bout de la rue

Dès le début, cela sent le cliché, mais au moins la présence des visages d'acteurs et la représentation agréable des relations entre eux sont réjouissantes. Du point de vue de l'horreur, cependant, c'est totalement dysfonctionnel. Au moins, une certaine tension de thriller se fait sentir dans la scène finale. Cependant, cela ne compense pas l'absence d'originalité, les mauvais montages par endroits et la réalisation médiocre. Sans parler des stupidités dans le scénario. (18/05/2020)

I’ll be nice and will give it three stars, though not “I recommend it” three stars, but rather “I survived” three stars. It’s such an unremarkably average thriller, but as a snack, why not. It’s not too stupid, it’s well made and, compared to other characters in teenage thrillers and horror, Lawrence is fine. After the trailer everyone laughed at how predictable it would be, but, to some extent, this time it wasn’t true. Yeah, sure, this kind of thriller can have only one kind of twist, but the viewer won’t guess very easily the “who, why and how much”. A conciliatory 50 percent. (13/12/2012)

Jennifer Lawrence is without a doubt the great asset of the whole film. She's basically a dopey girl who may not be particularly attractive to most of the male cast, but to me she represents the more "normal" part of the girl population and is a human and natural actress in the truest sense of the word. If the main character had been some busty blonde with too much makeup, I wouldn't even have bothered with this one. As far as the story is concerned, it's obviously not a very original affair, but on the other hand I certainly can't say that I was clear about everything from the beginning and that nothing surprised me. A technically average affair with an above-average script. Jennifer is of course great... :-) (11/10/2013)
