Set in a fantastical version of the ancient Middle Kingdom, the film follows Lang, a teenage martial arts fanatic, who dreams of one day finding the legendary DragonBlade a weapon of ultimate power which may only be wielded by the pure of heart and noble of spirit. In 2005, this would have been a pretty decent show, especially because it is action-packed. Today, however, it is something no one wants to watch anymore. The quality of animation has improved and being so spoiled by all the gorgeous animation I normally see, I had a very hard time watching this. I found the animation looked really bad. The movements were unnatural, and the action was over the top. Furthermore, even the jokes seemed stupid, and some modern things like the skateboard seemed very out of place. The narrative was rather weak and strangely developed. The characters, except for Lang and Ying Ying, were not very interesting. Perhaps if I had watched it twelve years ago, the rating would have been better; however, as it stands, compared to the animations I have already seen to date, it does not deserve more than 3.5/10 in my book.
