Tueur d’élite pour le compte d’une organisation gouvernementale, Al Simmons, trahi par son patron, disparait au milieu des flammes dans l’explosion d’une usine d’armes biochimiques… Quand il revient à lui, horriblement brûlé, il se retrouve devant le Seigneur des Ténèbres et signe avec lui un pacte : pour revoir sa femme Wanda, il devra mener les armées du Mal dans leur ultime combat. Un flop de plus au rayon des adaptations filmiques de bandes dessinées…

It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but it's not good either. Once again, it’s one of those films where they thought faithfully adapting the comic would be great, with all the elements that work on paper, but in the film, they don't - like the clown, who is just dreadful. The CGI, which was still in its infancy, only exacerbated the issue.

Awful in every sense. The highest concentration of the atrocious poetics of the nineties that I can possibly imagine. This can’t be any further from my taste. Once again: awful. Spawn will haunt my dreams for a couple of nights.
