Šinseiki Evangelion gekidžóban: The End of Evangelion

A definitive transition into psychology and philosophical theories, unfortunately at the expense of the original mythology. Not that the gradation of the secret clash between the two organizations wasn't exciting and, at certain moments, even shocking. It was the second half, which turns into the personal penance of the main creator Hideaki Anno, that disappointed me for the very reason that despite its many introspective statements, it doesn't bring any definitive resolution, even though several ethereal images stick in your mind for weeks after you watch it. I understand everyone who found this ambitious story arc fascinating, but unfortunately I expected something different and – might as well say it – more down-to-earth. In the unraveling of everything, I prefer to lean towards various alternative endings from the last episode of the series. (31/12/2019)
