Le Petit Prince (2015)

anglais I just have a weakness for "The Little Prince" story, and I was really afraid of how the creators of this film would manage to adapt it for the present day and today's audience. I didn't have to worry. Certainly not that much. The original book's story is beautifully retold here, and there's something extra added that works well alongside it. At times I felt that all the magic was lost, but then a scene came along that made me believe that this was a good direction. And it is.

Gamera contre Gaos (1967)

anglais This is a very average kaiju film and I'm sure a lot of viewers will think it's even worse than average. And it might have been if there weren't some really great special effects sequences at times that highlight what I love most about kaiju films. It's a beautiful effort to achieve excellent effects using classic, practical methods, without digital technology, which wasn't even possible at the time, yet it's done effectively and simply wonderfully.

The Ninja Immovable Heart (2014)

anglais This is simply desperate. Filming movies in such quality and in such a way is worse than not filming any movies at all. The creators should really just give up on this, and it doesn't matter how many faces they find for it. I expected it to be at least a little bit interesting, but it really wasn't interesting at all.

Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism (2015)

anglais I was expecting it to be more intriguing, more fantasy-oriented, and overall more touching, but it's just average, leaning towards below average for me because it's not all that entertaining. Well-known and interesting actors get minimal space here and the main character just can't carry it on her own. The ending is expected and uninspired.

Marvel Super Heroes : Les gladiateurs de la glace (2015) (téléfilm)

anglais Considering that I don't really like these Marvel animated movies, I quite enjoyed this one. I think it's probably the Christmas thing and how there's a Santa Claus character, but I think it's also a little bit because it's one of the funnier ones in a long time. It has to be admitted, though, that the animation is pretty awful at times.

Koyaanisqatsi, la prophétie (1982)

anglais A wordless documentary, with only music, a camera, and everything interconnected. It’s a documentary about the world and a documentary that has something to say. Without words. It has depth, and that has to be appreciated. Man has changed the world in his own image, but the question is whether that image is better than what existed before man. Not everyone would agree on that.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

anglais No, even after watching it several times, I just couldn't change the title of this film. The individual stories and scenes are so meticulously crafted that it's unbelievable this was made by someone who had only one film under their belt. The dialogue is impeccable, and acting-wise, Tarantino got exactly what he needed out of everyone. He is truly a master at making every scene perfect, and there is something breathtaking to be found in every scene.

Kill Kapone (2014)

anglais I don't even know what a film like this is supposed to give me. The setting is boring, the characters are boring, the story is boring; overall, it's just dull, and you're just watching it trying to hold itself together. And it somehow holds together, but it's certainly not great. When it's over, you can breathe a sigh of relief and move on.

Tu ne tueras point (1987)

anglais So I have very little to fault about this film. It's not because it's brilliantly shot and totally unique, but it's a very powerful film in terms of ideas that will make you think. Moreover, it's really well-shot in terms of how the scenes are arranged and how it's all handled overall - the killings in all their forms here really churn your stomach, even though it's not particularly explicit.

Final Curtain (1957)

anglais Ed Wood was simply himself and made a short film where the actor is essentially me, trying only to look scared or surprised, but mostly appearing ridiculous. All sound (monologue) is dubbed and it's precisely through this chatter that he tries to create the atmosphere. Of course, that doesn’t work. This is a nice effort, but to no avail.
