Outsider (2016)

anglais It's weird, but I guess there really aren't any downright bad boxing movies. I'm a little ashamed that I didn't know this, but Chuck Wepner and his fight with Ali was the inspiration for Rocky. But does it matter? Chuck was a guy who thought he was famous and did stupid things, but then he calmed down and is still alive. There is something beautiful about this, about always living and always moving on.

American Mummy (2014)

anglais For me, the movie American Mummy is a big waste of time and it doesn't make sense to watch the whole thing; maybe just watch a few final scenes and how the gore is executed, because it's not half-bad at all. But as a narrative, as an attempt to tell a story, it's just horrible and it doesn't give the viewer anything. The mummy in the title is only there because there has been more talk about mummies in recent years.

Koza (2015)

anglais Sometimes life is just too fucked up and it doesn't matter if you are a former Olympian who didn't do much at the Olympics but won what you could domestically, or an ordinary person. I liked the rawness of the film, but I wondered quite often how much of the scenes were staged, so I certainly wouldn't see it as a documentary.

Kosac (2014)

anglais An interesting introduction to contemporary Croatian-Slovenian cinema, with one location on one night dealing with the disappearance of a woman. Is it the released rapist's fault? Or things are a little different? The film is not unnecessarily exaggerated; it is presented realistically, almost coolly, which gives it an interesting atmosphere.

Eštebák (2011)

anglais It's still a film about coming to terms with the communist past, with snitching and opportunism, to a certain extent quite predictable in its course. But on the other hand, it's a film adorned with good acting performances, with Vetchý brilliantly portraying an incredible scoundrel. Also positive is the focus on only a few characters and a certain modesty of the film.

La Commissaire (1967)

anglais The Soviets once again demonstrated why they were so good at war movies. Not because they made so many of them that were beholden to the regime, but because they also made ones that were out of line, that were critical of war, and of people who dumbly follow the mechanism of the war machine. A wonderful example of psychological war drama with breathtaking images.

La Communauté (2016)

anglais I had a very good impression of the acting performances because they felt natural to me, yet all along, you have the feeling that it's strongly emotive, that it's quite pressing on the emotional side. I'm not sure if it was necessary to have the whole commune there, if fewer characters had been enough, maybe it would have been even better, but this way, more actors could have had a chance to shine. And they did well.

Kis Vuk (2008)

anglais If you just don't have the technology to make a good 3D movie, and by good I mean visually good, there's no point in making it at all. A Fox's Tale is proof of that because, after less than a decade, the film has aged incredibly and is not very good to watch. Not to mention that the story isn't anything special to get your attention either.

affiche

Kapoor & Sons (2016)

anglais One of those Indian films that manages to suppress humorous and musical numbers in favor of a story based on the portrayal of one family, which seems quite normal at first glance, but after just a few minutes with them you realize that these problems are deeply rooted and are destroying their lives. Still, it has quite a nice message in it.

La Guerre des boutons (1962)

anglais War of the Buttons is one of the most intriguing children's stories for me in the sense that it's a peculiar allegory of war, which is critical, entertaining, yet also somewhat terrifying because some lines sound innocently from a child's mouth, but when placed in an adult context, they suddenly take on a different meaning. I liked this old French concept very much.
