The Black Room (2017)

anglais The Black Room is a disappointment for me. I like films that take a bold subject and are able to present it in a bold, perhaps even controversial way as well. The Black Room is simply not like that and the theme of intimate demonic control is presented very poorly. It lacks the proper drive that such a film could have. Not to mention that it really isn’t scary.

Allan Quatermain et les mines du roi Salomon (1985)

anglais The movie King Solomon's Mines is really too reminiscent of the Indiana Jones style, but it's not that funny it's not that cool, it's just something that emulates it. Unfortunately, the stunt scenes don't look too good either. Chamberlain is fine, Sharon is pretty, but not much else. An adventure film, but without any real drive.

The World of Kanako (2014)

anglais These are the Japanese exactly how I like them. The film has a revenge essence, which isn't necessary, but it's an element that always draws me in. However, there's primarily brutality, which is almost inappropriate, but brilliantly executed. Additionally, there are bizarre elements like the sudden animated sequences, even though they're just short shots. And there is also the oppressive rawness.

Kadamban (2017)

anglais The Indians made an environmental advocacy film, which they stretched to a decent length, but they managed it quite commendably, although you need to be in the right mood for it. Thanks to its action-packed nature, its emotional depth at the right moments, and its fantastic elephant ride, I give it at least a slightly above-average rating. It didn't captivate me, but it wasn't boring.

Wakefield (2016)

anglais Wakefield is based on great acting and the idea itself. Bryan Cranston proves once again that he has become one of the most capable actors of our time, even though he is now slightly over sixty years old. The idea itself is captivating, not least because it is translated into a film that does not bore. I consider the ending a bold and good move.

The Dinner (2017)

anglais The theme that the film tackles isn't bad - the denial of guilt and the consequences of one's actions. All of the actors are superb. But the whole film and the overall idea are so incredibly drawn out, and most of the dialogues are just for effect, that you simply get lost in what you're watching because it's shallow.

affiche

Shot Caller (2017)

anglais Brilliantly acted, and brilliantly handled visually, where the casting was simply excellent, and Coster-Waldau and Bernthal were superbly chosen for their roles, where you believe Nikolaj in both positions. On top of that, the film is pretty gritty, which definitely helps the overall impression. If we want to mess up our lives, we can do it thoroughly.

Incidents de parcours (1988)

anglais Monkey Shines is a film in which George A. Romero demonstrated that he can handle other themes besides zombies. He showcased his storytelling ability even on a subject that may seem relatively simple. It’s not exactly trivial, but you can imagine how it will turn out. Thanks to well-acted characters, a great monkey in the lead role, and precise direction, the film will entertain you, even though it may seem too long at first.

Justin y la espada del valor (2013)

anglais It must be acknowledged that it has quite a nice visual aspect, but in terms of the story, it's transparent from beginning to end. Nothing much surprises here. The film has enough characters that can be entertaining, but also enough that are rather annoying. And unfortunately, most of them annoyed me. For a European animated film, it’s pretty good and average.

Journal d'une femme de chambre (2015)

anglais I found Luis Buñuel's take much better because the film had the right social critique. This essentially disappeared from the French film from 2015, and everything is presented only as a certain scratching of the surface, but it's gradual, light, and not very impactful. I did not enjoy the main character played by Léa Seydoux.
