C’est le soir de l’Halloween et un intrus cinglé et son otage se terrent dans la maison de Romina, alors que des tueurs à gages masqués mènent la charge contre sa porte d’entrée. « Trick or treat! » Lora Burke est une infirmière au grand cœur voulant relaxer après une dure journée de labeur, lorsque l’enfer au complet se déchaîne! Chris (Nick Smyth) réclame justice pour un méfait dont il a été victime, il est frustré, désespéré, et n’a plus rien à perdre. On lui doit une dette de sang et il ne sera satisfait que lorsqu’il aura une confession de son captif. Alors que le mystère entourant les trois occupants commence à s’éclaircir, une bande de mercenaires prend d’assaut la demeure. De nouvelles alliances seront mises à l’épreuve alors que le trio lutte pour survivre cette nuit marquée au fer rouge par la Mort. (Fantasia International Film Festival)

A decently brutal Canadian home invasion film! The first half is quite pointless, it revolves around three characters: a nurse who comes home and finds a maniac who beat up another guy unconscious for raping his daughter. They deal with that for half an hour and it is not particularly interesting, but once the masked attackers break into the house, a solid bloodbath begins and it doesn't let up until the end. I have to highlight the music, it adds intensity, and the gore is decent too – the creators definitely didn’t shy away from blood and it has a certain edge (slit throats and a hammer to an eye included). Fortunately, they keep chopping each other for more than half an hour continuously, so the film flies by. The only downside is that it looks cheaper and you shouldn't think too much about it, as many questions are left unanswered. But I don't have a problem with watching it once. 6/10.
