(Sidonis Calysta)

anglais Time has taken its toll on this film in places, but I was expecting that. I commend the filmmakers for the result even today. The only thing that puzzled me, given my interest in wars in the Pacific from the Russo-Japanese War to the end of WWII, was the filmmakers' "ability" to get only three names out of six right regarding the carriers that formed the backbone of Nagumo's First Air Fleet. Despite these minor issues, I enjoyed travelling back in time, not just on screen but also in my memory, to a time when I was in elementary school and saw this film for the first time. ()

anglais I saw this once as a young boy, so it’s heavily nostalgic for me. Sheen and Douglas give very mediocre performances, but luckily the theme is sufficiently sturdy, so it doesn’t matter. The idea of a modern (modern in those days) aircraft carrier on the eve of the Second World War gives you goose bumps. In comparison to Marvel’s alternative universes, this perhaps doesn’t seem so shocking, but back when it came out, it really was something. I’m surprised that they never made a remake or an upgrade using the 9/11 theme. ()

anglais A silly recruitment movie for the American Marines. I’m surprised by the high rating it has here, you can see the reliable work of the nostalgia and memories of when this was one of the few Hollywood films shown in cinemas during the Communist regime. ()

anglais Actually, quite boring. The time travel is just a backdrop for a war drama without warring and today we can see many better films about time paradoxes. But certainly better than the final countdown in Kladno :-) ()
