Ice Road

Je n’aurais pu imaginer de thème qui me soit plus étranger que celui proposé par Ice Road. Ça me dépasse complètement, mais j’ai apprécié le film, d’où ma note élevée. Liam Neeson ne me déçoit jamais et qui d’autre que lui pouvait-on mettre au volant d’un camion dans une mission suicide où chaque seconde compte ? (07/03/2022)

I could shake my head at what Liam Neeson has gotten himself into again, and maybe even give one less star, but it's not that simple. This film had a really solid potential to build on the legacy of Wages of Fear or at least Peckinpah's Convoy, it could have been something like Unstoppable, a kind of macho flick… If only someone else had made it, for God's sake. Everything is in its proper place, and I understand why Liam Neeson went for it after reading the script, but when an action film director is unable to shoot a proper action scene, constantly letting important things happen out of frame, and when the flashy, cheap-looking digital effects don't help, it just doesn't work. Perhaps if Kenworth had given the filmmakers more money, since the movie is a commercial for their trucks, the studio could have paid someone better. (23/01/2022)

Any episode of Walker Texas Ranger (including moral appeals through war veterans and Native Americans or sympathy for the working class versus inherently corrupt suits) on the big screen. That Netflix is slowly returning to television its role as a distributor of resigned brain dead entertainment we know, but how is it possible for this kind of lameness to make it into theaters?
