In Hella Joof’s debut film (where Lisa Nilsson performs the title song), Jacob (Mads Mikkelsen) proposes to Jörgen (Troels Lyby) on his birthday, after many years together. But already during the same evening he sees Jörgen’s wasted sister-in-law Caroline over the toilet seat with a glass of red wine, and the encounter awakens odd feelings in Jacob. Suddenly life is turned upside down, and Jacob does not know what to do with all these feelings. Two years after his breakthrough in Bleeder, Mads Mikkelsen shows he is ready to present a charming portrayal of the confused man in love at the heart of this entertaining triangle drama. Les mécanismes relationnels dramatiques, présentés de manière souriante, sincère et avec une légèreté admirable, enveloppés d'une libéralité sexuelle surprenante et non intruisible. Un autre de ces excellents films scandinaves qui me fascinent par la quantité d'amertume et de sentiment que les "Nordiques froids" cachent en eux. Et Mads Mikkelsen est sérieusement un acteur "excellent" dans n'importe quelle situation émotionnelle.
