Le Pacte Hitler-Staline

It is complex, exhaustive, non-manipulative, historically accurate, and above all it works with context and not only conveys what happened but why it happened, what alternatives could have been, and who was behind the decisions. It is refreshing to see a documentary that does not rely on animations or dramatized passages, but works with archival materials, does not simplify, and does not try to capture the viewer with flashy special effects. This is how I imagine a professional, high-quality documentary. The only disadvantage for someone might be that, due to its length and amount of facts, it presupposes a deeper interest in the issue. It is simply not a film where you can do household chores or chat with friends. Overall impression: 90%. (08/12/2020)
