Cannibal ferox

The Italian splatter flicks from 1970s and 80s set in the jungle are all the same, with dirty hairy natives pretending to be absent in spirit, detailed images of animal killings (among other things, here again a tortoise, a worthy victim of Italian the trashers). There are also some splatter scenes here and there, including the tried-and-tested cutting off of a penis seen in other genre-related films, which in this one is also combined with its consumption. All this is wrapped up in the story of a scientific expedition exploring the life of cannibals, which meets two drug dealers who are terrorizing a local tribe. Of course, the Indians ain't putting up with it, which is a good excuse to unleash a splatter orgy. All in all, taken as "study material" on what was also filmed, it's survivable in one viewing. The cannibal film "Women from the Deep River" is simply a myth. There is a lot of talk about it, a cult has been created around it, but the fact that an actress of Czech origin plays in it is perhaps the biggest curiosity, at least for Czech audiences. It's not worth it because it's just "Cannibal" again, not any better and rather worse. Watching essentially the same thing twice is quite boring and a waste of time. (14/01/2014)
