In R. Buckminster Fuller's bizarre universe cars have three wheels and houses are not built by bricklayers but are delivered by spaceships. Bucky, who would have been 100 years old in 1995, was an American inventor, philosopher, poet and visionary. Insofar as people have ever heard of him, most of them know him as an innovator in the field of land surveying: he was the inventor of the geodetic turret. In this cinematographic biography filmmakers Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon have for the first time portrayed Buckminster Fuller's colourful and eventful life in all its facets. They also introduce friends and colleagues, like composer John Cage, director Arthur Penn and choreographer Merce Cunningham. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
