Astérix et la surprise de César

“Dear boys..." Asterix and Obelix put a system of small “favors" into practice in their second best film adventure, this time in a hybrid based on several different instalments of the comic book at once. Although it still remains in a rather infantile style compared to the original comic books, but as a kid this and The Great Cheese Conspiracy were my favorite cartoons of all, so I forgive it any glitches. Of course, I am happy to add that it didn’t have many glitches anyhow. (25/11/2007)

It's a bit better, but in my opinion what I wrote about Asterix the Gaul still applies: Asterix is better to read than to watch. Some of my friends, also Asterix fans, have the same opinion, so I hope I'm not being too subjective. The books are brilliant, the animated versions are botched, and Goscinny and Uderzo have disowned them. (08/05/2003)

Another one of those stories that I quite like and find entertaining. The whole story is essentially just a journey towards rescue, but in the drawing, you can see how even in animated films, it evolved and is different from the previous one, moreover, it utilizes - to the benefit of the matter - different kinds of characters.
