The zombies are stalking again. However, on this occasion humanity has managed to escape the attack thanks to a protein that counteracts the effects and stops some from turning definitively into non-dead. An excellent idea about how to have an original take on the zombie apocalypse. The creators don’t get all the juice out of it,though, which is a pity, but The Returned has its strong moments. It’s very well made and the climax even managed to arouse some emotions (though the ending maybe is trying a bit too much). A pleasant surprise from the director of the below-par The Possession of Emma Evans. 7/10

In my opinion, the Spanish-Canadian cooperation has paid off in this case, the only problem I see is the fact that the film is presented as a horror. It's not a horror, there are no horror moments or necessary atmosphere here. It is partly a sci-fi film, a film about people who have different views of the world. It's not groundbreaking in that sense, but it's definitely interesting.
