L'Emprise du Mal

I waited for half a movie to see whether it picks up its pace and it didn’t. And what’s more, the highlight of the tension is a scene with a dog that, I don’t know why, reminded me of the final scene from the movie Out of Reach with Steven Seagal, which actually also speaks for itself. The finale is, by the way, also laughable because I cared about the whole movie so little that even if the creators put aliens in it, I would thank them. Two stars for the atmosphere, even though I didn’t know what was going on, and for the camera work that, quite surprisingly, salvaged quite a bit of this movie. (25/03/2018)

"Road" is an interesting movie if you like films that have an impact on you, that are able to evoke strong, rather negative emotions. In this case, it succeeds even in making it difficult to empathize with characters that are generally unpleasant, and the presence of a child hero does not help either. "Road" has a good atmosphere, but as a coherent film, it simply does not work, so it leans more towards average. (05/05/2014)

A mysterious, psychological horror thriller in a snowy mountain environment. It has a pretty decent atmosphere, but otherwise it’s a fairly predictable prank that wants to confuse the viewer with different tricks that have no justification in the end. In short, it’s unnecessarily twisted at first sight, but very simple under the surface. OK to watch once. (17/02/2013)
