anglais I can imagine why they pretty much ignored this movie in the USA. The film offers a classical European deeply felt theme, which is mostly typical of us Europeans. In other words, it is a war story about the absurdity of war and it’s not the first, nor the last story like this. For example, a Russian movie The Cuckoo did something similar and it was also really nice to watch, same as Into the White. All in all, it was a pretty similar movie, which certainly does not hurt. This film also deserved the five stars. Stories like this should be carved into everyone’s memory. You never know when it may come in handy. ()

anglais An ordinary war drama about two small groups of soldiers surviving under terrible conditions. It’s nothing really revolutionary, it’s safe, predictable and with a clear outcome. Technically, It’s good, though. The characters are not overflowing with charisma or reason, and their unnecessary bickering soon get tiring. Overall, average. ()

anglais After a few minutes, I didn't really know what should enchant me about the movie. A few German soldiers and a few British soldiers are forced to not shoot at each other and try to survive together. As their relationship develops, it only shows that a war relationship drama can work. And in this case, it works well. ()

anglais A successful war drama about the emergence of a friendship between three Germans and two Englishmen who shoot each other down over the inhospitable Norwegian landscape. Chance brings them together under the same roof of a mountain hut as they seek shelter from a raging snowstorm. Despite the initial national animosity, they eventually become friends, something that the members of the Norwegian army who find them cannot understand. The film was based on true events, and this underscores the power of the message of how absurd wars are. ()

anglais Wonderful design, minimalist environment, moderate, though sometimes not entirely consistent directing (exacerbated scenes are hampered by quite awkward changes in perspectives), an old school humanistic drama, which says that under the uniform and ideology are compatible human souls. Sympathetically subdued characters with small stories, a bit unnecessarily sharpened schematic dialogues, but the film has the proper atmosphere of a hunting lodge, where a small war and a small peace occur. A modest film that is easy and pleasurable to watch. ()
