Frank Zappa paved the way for future generations of avant garde musicians with his angular interpretation of rock 'n' roll. Influenced by a diverse array of artists (everything from Buddy Holly to Stockhausen), Zappa had an eye for perverse, offbeat and humorous lyrics, in tandem with off-kilter melodies and theatrical concert performances.
