Inspired by true events, They Wait tells the terrifying tale of one family's life-threatening encounter with angry spirits during Ghost Month. Much like Hallowe'en in North America, Ghost Month (or Hungry Ghost Festival) has been revered in China for generations, but it is much more than a children's celebration. Some believe that, during the seventh lunar month, the gates of Hell open and angry ghosts can become demons. Ghost Month is the only time of year when the realm of the living intersects with the realm of the dead, and the world is thrown into madness. (texte officiel du distributeur)

anglais It took me quite a long time to get the courage to watch this film (I was put off by the awful ratings on IMDb), but the fears were unwarranted. To my surprise, it is an above-average ghost story that, though not very original, held my attention and even scared me a couple of times, for which I’m grateful. The directors managed to build a decent atmosphere and there are so many different ghosts that fans will probably love it. I have it at 7/10. ()
