Du vent dans les saules

Damn, I quite like this silly tale about a fat frog man! Especially in terms of its visuals, because the concept is neither particularly fabulous or overly serious... it's simply a ridiculous caricature. And that reminds me of the poetics of "MPFC"... The humor is weaker, but the "crazy" acting save the film quite a bit and turn the classic British fairy tale into a relatively humorous and silly spectacle (not only) for Python positive. It's definitely not a good idea to expect full-fledged Python humor from the film, but it undoubtedly has its charm. (27/07/2004)

If a large part of Monty Python decides to make a movie for children, I expect a masterpiece. And even though I'm not saying that I didn't laugh occasionally, Žabák (Frog) is unfortunately only a pure average, where occasional deadly lines alternate with awkwardness. With the rating of this film, there is a little problem... The last common film of Monty Pythons was The Meaning of Life and then the members went their separate ways and worked on their own projects. Frog's Adventures are exclusively Terry Jones' authorial project, who focused on literature for children and directing. Engaging other ex-Pythons, even in small roles, was an idea of the producer and was motivated solely by commercial interests. Therefore, it is not a Monty Python work and it makes no sense to compare this film with the group's creations. Visually, it is original, fast-paced, and unconventional, with several catchy songs, somewhat "quirky", as is usual with Jones and his colleagues. The target audience was children, although everyone with an unrestrained imagination will enjoy it. Overall impression is 80%. (10/05/2007)
