En route pour l'île de Mindanao, un avion avec quatre passagers, s'écrase dans la jungle. La nuit tombée, les rescapés sont agressés par des cannibales et seuls Robert Harper et Rolf parviennent à s'échapper. Mais très vite les difficultés rencontrées dans cette forêt hostile les séparent et Rolf disparaît. "The Last Cannibals" is definitely not a classic cannibal film in the sense that it is just about the disgust. There is also a suspenseful story that can be followed, just with the difference that you occasionally close your eyes when animals are killed here. Otherwise, the film shows that sometimes we simply have to do truly horrifying things if we want to preserve our own lives. It is not perfect, not by any means, but compared to similar pieces, it still stands out strongly.

The same rating has Cannibal Holocaust. Very good in terms of rawness and exploitation terror, with terrible actors, of course, but what else can you expect from the Italians. The scene where they kill and butcher a crocodile was over the top, even for me, and I’m not one of those who would want to see the director’s head on a stick for killing a monkey or a turtle. The music is good, likewise the gore (though there’s not that much of it), so I have no choice but to recommend the The Last Cannibal World – naturally, only to those who know what to expect.
