Prelude is the opening film in a series of short experimental films in which Brakhage subjected the film material to physical and chemical manipulation. In this intimate diary, the female body is like unexposed film and its abstracted parts flow into the disintegrating emulsion. Brakhage seems to infiltrate the body and its nudity. anglais What to say about this picture? It's just a prelude, an introduction to something that is supposed to follow. It's an unclear introduction that doesn't say anything. The images are scattered in different ways, without rhyme or reason. I would really like to be in Brakhage's mind to see the creative process, to understand when he knew that this prelude should end. For my understanding, when everything must have at least a relative beginning, middle, and end, this simply isn't it. ()
