Amos Burke (Gene Barry) is a tough LAPD chief of detectives; he's also a mansion-dwelling millionaire. Burke doesn't have to wear the badge for the money--he does it because it's who he is. When not riding around in his chauffeured Rolls-Royce, or flirting with the lovely ladies who surround him, Burke's pairing up with fresh-faced rookie Tim Tilson (Gary Conway) and veteran cop Les Hart (Regis Toomey) to solve some of the city's most puzzling crimes. But while Burke has a taste for the finer things in life, that doesn't mean he isn't willing to get his hands dirty in police work--or bruise his fists on the faces of some of society's worst elements.
