Sharksploitation

Sharksploitation est un documentaire très réussi et épatant de par ses couches multiples, où le thème de l'exploitation des requins est traité à plusieurs niveaux, que ce soit cinématographique, mythologique ou réel. C'est aussi une compilation très amusante d'extraits de divers films de requins, qu'ils soient de relativement bonne qualité ou objectivement horribles, lesquels peuvent vous donner beaucoup de suggestions de films dont l'insuccès est mérité ou non et que vous aurez envie de regarder après avoir vu ce documentaire. Despite the subject matter and the title, Sharksploitation is a very serious documentary about the depiction of sharks in the history of cinema from the 1930s to the present day, as well as about sharks in general and how films have negatively shape the image of sharks in society. The film offers very nicely and entertainingly composed mix of talking heads (ranging from filmmakers to experts in marine zoology) and clips from every possible film with sharks, naturally including the biggest trash flicks (though rather towards the end). Plus a heap of little-known stories from the film industry and debunking of the biggest myths about sharks. (08/10/2023)
