anglais Imagine a spaghetti western with Eastwood about the gold rush. Imagine the Second World War after the Normandy landings. Imagine a hippy, stoned, anti-war movie. Imagine a seventies pop single like out of a Hill and Spencer movie. Got that? And now imagine all of the above nicely gathered together with a good dash of hyperbole, but not as a confused mishmash, but as a functioning whole that has but two defects. The hallucinatory poster and my memory. I seem to have nostalgically embellished my childhood memories about that movie. But not so much, on the other hand. ()

anglais Kelly's Heroes finds its place among those American films where war is portrayed as an adventure filled with humorous moments. Surprisingly, this didn't bother me much. The creators put in a commendable effort, delivering almost perfect period technique, weapons, and equipment, which truly impressed me. The story was a bit far-fetched, but that was to be expected, so I remained unfazed. Truth be told, this adventure entertained me quite nicely. While I was initially eager for Dirty Harry, Donald Sutherland stole the show with his portrayal of Oddball, which was absolutely perfect. By the way, I couldn't help but chuckle at members of the Wehrmacht fighting under the flags of the Kriegsmarine. It seems the official flag of the Third Reich wasn't distinctive enough for the Americans :-) / Lesson learned: Nothing should stand in the way of your treasure hunt. ()

anglais An superbly cast war romp that sometimes slips into western and even hippie moods. The laid-back atmosphere carries on through the entire movie, but it absolutely oozes from good old Sutherland. Clint as always is a smart tough guy and Telly Savalas is a rowdy nice guy, just how we like him. I liked the focus on tanks and the excellent finale, 3 Tigers vs. 1 Sherman in the town is a joy to behold. If you want to win a war, you need motivation. http://youtu.be/qXIjE_gDw94 ()
