(Crunchyroll)

anglais I am in a dilemma because I kind of realized that this anime series is not really anything special in terms of entertainment or cuteness. It is also nothing special in finding some nice solutions to various social, psychological, or other interesting problems. However, at the same time, I cannot shake the impression that I still quite liked it in some strange way. As far as the comedy element is concerned, I mostly laughed really heartily once every episode, just as there was only a smile on my face when I saw something "cute" or "wholesome" occasionally. Some of the jokes were a little too repetitive. I did not even find the subject matter particularly profound or endearing. When I compare it to, say, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, then The Great Jahy Will Be Defeated in every possible way. It is more on the level of, say, Dropkick on My Devil! in my opinion, albeit without the "slapstick." Plus, I felt that the screenwriters often think, "It is funny because it is noisy!" which did not convince me. I am aware of all this, and based on what I have written, I should have given it two stars at most and moved on, however... This anime series, whatever it was, well, nothing deterred me from actually finishing it. I found it relaxing and was able to unwind quite nicely. Gradually, I kind of got used to having Jahy and friends as part of my Saturday nights or Sunday mornings, and I was enjoying that. I got to know the whole cast of characters, and I knew what to expect. It was like a regular catch-up with an old friend as loud as Uncle Pepin and is only occasionally funny, despite trying very hard. However, I have no problem believing his stories, even if he tells them in a bit of a dry way and incompletely. I do not mind if he visits again in a week. Perhaps it is some kind of mania, Stockholm Syndrome, bad taste, guilty pleasure; however, The Great Jahy gets 5.5/10. ()
