Dancing Queens

The director decided to combine two different themes, the death of a mother and drag queens, which are connected by dance. However, here the filmmakers encountered a number of problems. Neither thematic line is properly completed, so the whole thing feels confusing. The main character is uninteresting, her personality doesn't develop in the story and she doesn't really try to achieve her goal... In the end, she does accomplish her goal herself, but with the help of other characters who are much more interesting. The creators obviously don't even know anything about drag queens, because they have a weird behavior and completely miss the typical traits of this "culture". Also, the filmmakers have resigned using any visual dramaturgy. I started laughing only in the last ten minutes, which is rather self-sabotaging for a comedy film. The film is certainly a huge disappointment, and not just for me... (10/06/2021)
