13 Hours (2016)

anglais I wonder what the Americans would make films about if they weren't constantly spreading democracy everywhere. I can’t wait to see an action-packed film about returning stolen land to Indian tribes. But back to the film. The fight scenes are shot well – I especially liked the sequence with the mine à la first-person action. Unfortunately, the film is ruined by E.T.-call-home-type scenes. One of the final lines "I don't know how you survived all that. But I know how the rest of us did" almost made me throw up in my mouth a little. As usual, a giant dose of patriotism and pathos, but I’m sure the film is a huge success on the home front.

Hardcore Henry (2015)

anglais An interesting first-person combat film until about halfway through. Then it starts to get boring by repeating virtually the same plot over and over again. I kept wondering how many more enemies Henry would have to shoot, slash, beat or tear apart with his bare hands for the plot to move forward. I still don't know the answer. Even after the death of the last villain, I don't really know what it was all about, or why the main bad guy had telekinetic powers. The film just lacks a point. The plot goes from point A to who knows where or why. 3 stars are for the first 40 minutes and for all Sharlto Copley’s incarnations.

Er ist wieder da (2015)

anglais Definitely a matter that has an idea, clear evidence that if the creator wants to warn about something, they should do so in the form of comedy, because the impact is greater. On the other hand, Germans should stop constantly apologizing for their ancestors, grandparents, and great-grandparents, especially those who did not hesitate to take advantage of anything and anyone from the former Reich after the war (for example, the American rocket program built on Werner von Braun or former SS members fighting in the Foreign Legion in French Indochina). Well, comedy and so much to contemplate...

Grimsby - Agent trop spécial (2016)

anglais Along with The Dictator, the best thing Cohen has made.  A cocktail of engaging action scenes with sophisticated as well as scatological humor that oddly works as a whole. Plus, the cast is very interesting, resulting in a well-made and unpretentious comedy.

Fury (2014) Boo !

anglais As so many times before, the Americans have managed to turn a promising theme into utter historical nonsense. After Band of Brothers, I thought they had already learned to stick to the historical facts, but I was dead wrong. When I saw Commander Pitt, confronted with a German camouflaged anti-tank semi-battery, order a halt in the open without it being his last order, I realized that this was just another one of those action films only loosely inspired by WW2. My assumption was supported by the duel between the three Shermans and the Tiger. The German tank commander must have been Pitt's brother, otherwise I can't see why he would have gone to meet the Americans instead of blasting them at long range. The final battle of the unmounted tank against the SS infantry battalion was downright ridiculous unless it was a special Kamikaze battalion. Mr. Ayer robbed me of more than 2 hours of my life.

Chappie (2015)

anglais I'm not saying it's a cinematographic gem, but it definitely has its bright moments. A totally wacky movie. I’m giving 4 stars because the film introduced me to Die Antwoord. When I'm bored, I watch their videos and laugh like a madman.

Vikings - Season 2 (2014) (saison)

anglais What joy and happiness have befallen me! I liked the first season very much and worried that the second one would not reach the same quality. And I wasn’t wrong, it was even better! A well-blended mixture of intrigue and action. Keep them coming!

Vikings - Season 1 (2013) (saison)

anglais The first season was a delight. A great mixture of intrigue, raw carnage, and a very interesting cast, without unnecessary tear-jerking scenes. I was totally satisfied.

22.11.63 (2016) (série)

anglais There are few books by Stephen King that I haven't read, and 11/22/63 isn’t one of them. I don't know how I would have reacted to the series if I hadn't read the book, but having read it, I was disappointed. I understand that the story has to be cut down in a certain way, but I don't understand why new characters (Billy) need to be introduced who have no impact on the plot whatsoever. Another pet peeve of mine that has been bothering me for quite a while is the diversity quotas that need to be filled in every American movie or TV show. I don't have anything against actors of color, but I do have a problem with them being cast in roles where it makes no sense. In this case, it's Mimi Corcoran who, in the book, was portrayed as the éminence grise of Jodie High School. Instead, she's a black secretary who can only repeat "Yes, sir! '. The whole plot seems strangely unbalanced, and I couldn't get into it at all. On the other hand, credit is due to the very good James Franco and Sarah Gadon.

Listy do M. (2011)

anglais A Polish variation on Love Actually, which turned out great. A well-made Christmas movie that I found relatable and fun. What more could I ask for from a Christmas romance?
