Dobrodružství kriminalistiky - Jed (1989) (épisode)

anglais The second episode was completely different in its approach compared to the first one, but what was lacking in pace and action, was perfectly compensated by Mr. Viktor Preiss and Ladislav Frej, who turned the whole trial into a show for the two performers. I had a great time.

Dobrodružství kriminalistiky - Stopa (1989) (épisode)

anglais A thirty-year-old matter, and I still look at it as good as when it aired on television premiere. Throughout the entire episode, the creators deserved a better four-star rating because it had a decent pace and action, and I actually liked the whole way Vidocq's story was processed. And the fifth piece goes to Boris Rösner, who surpassed all the French versions of François Vidocq and even outdid Vincent Cassel.

BrightBurn - L'enfant du mal (2019)

anglais This could have been worth five stars... The theme was perfect. Finally a superpower-endowed creature whose anti-heroic acts I'd enjoy watching. Unfortunately, the authors kept the guy on too short a leash, limiting him to the territory of one small town or rather a cluster of houses and farms. The plot was too restrained, I hoped for more powerful action, but it turned out to be just a run-of-the-mill slasher horror film. Too bad, there was definitely more potential.

Ryba ve čtyřech (1987) (téléfilm)

anglais An extremely low-budget black comedy that manages to do a lot with only four characters, but the acting performances are excellent. The one delivered by Rudolf Hrušínský is downright brilliant. I had a great time again. Sometimes less is more, and there is beauty/fun in simplicity.

Solstice (2008)

anglais The theme reminded me of I Know What You Did Last Summer, but the authors managed to avoid the standard trope of a gradual elimination of promising young Americans, so I found it more watchable.

Durante la tormenta (2018)

anglais Finally, a pleasant surprise. An excellent thriller-like drama full of storms, clashes of two time planes, and the pursuit of justice. I couldn't tear my eyes off the screen for two hours straight. Excellent acting performances, a well-crafted screenplay, and fantastic directing made me enjoy this film to the fullest. I couldn't possibly give a lower rating.

Mademoiselle (2016)

anglais Although there was no trace of action in the film, the story certainly didn't stagnate or get boring. The running time that seemed scary at first wasn't a problem in the end. The plot may have been slightly overelaborate in places, sometimes I even got lost in the story (due to the alternation of time planes), but I wasn't bored for a second, and the uncle's weird cravings were quite amusing.

The Balkan Line (2019)

anglais The Russians did not disappoint and added a generous dose of propaganda and heartfelt moments. But I didn't mind it this time, because the film says practically the same thing as I always say. The "humanitarian" bombing of Yugoslavia was a crime, and the person who coined this expression is a giant asshole. Anyway, back to the movie. It was an awesome action film, which for me was like The Magnificent Seven meets Black Hawk Down meets The Dawns Here Are Quiet. I had a great time, and the 150 minutes just flew by.

Murder Mystery (2019) Boo !

anglais I don't expect much of Adam Sandler films, but this one was a downright disaster. Jennifer Aniston, Gemma Arterton, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson – the cast got me excited about the film, and then I spent an hour and a half being bored to death while it was trying to pretend it was hilarious. It wasn't. Comedies that don’t make me laugh are a guarantee of a “Boo!” rating, because I see no reason for their existence.

He's Out There (2018)

anglais I can't give a higher than a slightly above-average rating, because I caught myself being bored about halfway through the film. Fortunately, everything was saved by a more lively (but, at the same time, more dead) final third. The main villain strongly reminded me of Jason from Friday the 13th, and the book reminded me of the Babadook, so the screenwriter could have been a little more inventive. However, the sister duo were quite convincing as the terrified sister duo, and I could heartily root for the main character. Yvonne Strahovski is sure nice to look at (she would be the only reason for me to watch the third season of The Handmaid’s Tale, if it wasn’t for the terrifying prospect of Elisabeth Moss on the other end of the scale). 3*+
