The Fountain (2006)

anglais I prefer other Aronofsky's movies, it is quite clear also from the ratings, but you simply cannot deny that this one has something to it, that it is primarily a story about the beauty of life and love. It is evident that Aronofsky is truly well-read in the Old Testament, as he demonstrated with his film "Noah", but neither in this case does he necessarily follow the traditional religious path, but adapts everything to himself. However, "The Fountain" is not a greater work because of it.

Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines (2012) Boo !

anglais "Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines" is completely off track. Most of the horror series production nowadays is more believable, suspenseful, and terrifying, with better sets, better scene arrangement, and less boredom. Declan O'Brien has resigned from tension, and the characters' comedic mocking becomes the film's motto. I enjoyed some songs from the soundtrack the most, even though they didn't fit into the scenes, at least I could enjoy them.

Un coeur pris au piège (1941)

anglais Henry Fonda is incredibly adorable in the role of a dimwitted rich man, whom a beautiful stranger wants to swindle for money. However, not everything goes as planned and everything turns out differently. Sure, it's a bit cliché, but the performances are so excellent that you simply have to enjoy this comedy, including the absurd repetition of some funny elements.

Rest (2011)

anglais Well, that within the zombie genre it is no longer possible to come up with something original. The opposite is true and the film "Rest" clearly proves it. I'm not saying it's a great movie, but it's quite original within the zombie genre. It's interesting in that it's silent, it's good with its masks, and in the end it even amuses with a good twist when you realize what a nice romance it actually is.

Human Beings (2012)

anglais Sometimes, when you exaggerate with celebrations and you're still young, this is how it turns out. It's kind of absurd, almost surreal in places, but it's not really action-packed. It's simply a movie about how sometimes it's quite harsh to wake up from being drunk and realize that what happened before was quite crazy. There are a lot of similar movies, but this one is more dramatic. Surprisingly.

For the Remainder (2011)

anglais No, this won't knock me off my feet, because I don't really like the animation itself. Yes, the graphics are interesting, no doubt about that, but when it doesn't grab you, what can you do about it? The emotions remained hidden for me and that's all.

Citizen Kane (1941)

anglais One of the most respected films, which I personally wouldn't put on the pedestal of the absolute best, but it must be acknowledged that Orson Welles and the screenwriter did an absolutely incredible job. Every scene is perfectly crafted and so is the whole. Additionally, Welles was a great actor, which he showcases here in various emotional dimensions, as well as at different ages. An impressive film, but don't expect something that will completely change your life.

Solaris (1972)

anglais Equally difficult to grasp as "2001: A Space Odyssey," but equally interpretive, possibly even stronger. Tarkovsky's film does not rely on visual spectacle, but instead the Russian creator opted for philosophical sci-fi, where everything important unfolds through dialogue, memories, not necessarily through images. There are scenes from inside spaceships, but it remains very limited. Even so, this is how sci-fi can be filmed, mainly because the narrative is no less powerful.

Silent Running (1972)

anglais It may seem like a quite boring movie because there isn't really much happening, which would be a bit faster. On the other hand, it is necessary to realize that this movie definitely has something to say and it has the great Bruce Dern in the lead role, who shows his mastery here. What will enchant you though, is the captivating effects and brilliantly conceived technology, which are simply amazing for the year 1972. It's not "2001: A Space Odyssey", but in this regard, it will still dazzle you.

Axeman at Cutter's Creek (2013)

anglais "Axeman at Cutter's Creek" is a horror movie that manages to easily blend in because in the amount of films being produced, it simply doesn't stand a chance to succeed. It is a standard slasher film, with a lazy, simplistic campfire story, and then it's just about killing as much as possible. The more boring characters, the better. However, certainly not for the viewer who has to endure this.
