The Eye Creatures (1967) (téléfilm)

anglais Attack of the Eye Creatures already has the monster in its title, so it's clear that there will be some creature with lots of eyes. This didn't quite hit the mark, but still, the appearance of the monster is quite interesting and can be entertaining to look at, albeit perhaps because it seems more funny than actually scary. However, once more of them appear, it has its charm and isn't entirely bad. It won't scare, but it can please in terms of nostalgia.

Alvarez Kelly (1966)

anglais A western centered around real cowboys, specifically cattle drivers. They are trying to get the stolen herd of cows to where they were originally supposed to go. I was a little disappointed with the way the cow scenes were shot, but then again, it was 1966. A slightly different themed western, and it suited it quite well, thanks to the audience-friendly characters.

True Detective - Season 1 (2014) (saison)

anglais The beginning of the first season was good, but I wouldn't say I was completely hooked. I didn't enjoy the part with the bikers at all, but the gradual unraveling and excellent portrayal of the characters eventually led me to thoroughly enjoy the first season of the series. And yes, it's built on great actors, without whom it wouldn't be as compelling.

Adam Chaplin (2011)

anglais Adam Chaplin is a film that draws a bit from German exploitation, where the Germans excel in such splatter films. It doesn't focus much on the plot; it's just a basic framework. The main thing is that many characters die here, and it's really very bloody. The film fulfilled this to perfection. And that's all it'll give you. And that's all you can expect. Adam Chaplin is for a niche audience. Too bad I prefer more elaborate stories.

Miracle en Alabama (1962)

anglais What's good about the story is that it's based on real personalities, because in this case, it helps. Its strength lies mainly in how the individual characters are portrayed, with Anne Bancroft especially being absolutely captivating, and she and Patty Duke fit so well together that the film would work even without the other actors. Very powerful, but not extortionate.

The Marine 5: Battleground (2017)

anglais You expect an action movie from this, and you get an action movie. Simple, cheap, without any frills, it just plays on the idea that The Miz is once again trying to survive and has his Marine training to rely on. Nothing groundbreaking, but the action scenes aren't downright bad, and CGI, like the headshot, probably won't bother you too much.

The Lonely Man (1957)

anglais It presents itself as a typical western about a tough guy trying to find his son and bond with him a bit. And it's exactly that kind of movie. But Jack Palance's acting here seemed so perfect for the role of a cowboy trying to at least make something right that I enjoyed following his destiny. Young Anthony Perkins doesn't significantly mess anything up either.

The Levelling (2016)

anglais On one hand, the film is great in how it's shot, how the emotions feel genuine with no one overacting, and it's realistic in how the environment is portrayed. On the other hand, the story here unfortunately stopped entertaining me quite quickly, even though there's a certain mystery that could push it forward.

The Legend of Ben Hall (2017)

anglais Even in Australia, they can make quite good westerns, except that you have the feeling they're all a bit of the same. That's the feeling I had with the movie The Legend of Ben Hall, where I thought it was essentially the same as Ned Kelly, and unfortunately, it doesn't have much else in terms of plot. It's pretty violent, though.

Adorables ennemies (2017)

anglais It's exactly as you expect. The older lady is a bitch who could change her ways in her old age if the significantly younger woman, along with another even younger one, can discover her nearly lost good side. How's that gonna work out? The ending is so expected and the tears so forced that it ruined the whole experience for me.
