A family vacation is not exactly what seventeen-year-old AJ would consider to be a thrilling summer plan. She feels most comfortable in her social exclusion, which allows her to deal with truly important global and ecological problems. The irritatingly normative and agonizingly boring family forces AJ to leave their camper and look for some peace and quiet elsewhere. But when she meets Ilsa, a lifeguard shrouded in the scent of chlorine, she realizes her fascination cannot be dealt with in any other way than by, for her, uncharacteristic socialization. Will AJ manage to suppress her intellectual and cynical self and enjoy her first lesbian love? The remarkable Nell Barlow as quirky AJ offers moments of kind as well as cynical humour, turning Marley Morrison‘s coming-of-age debut into an entertaining film for a wide audience.
