(Carlotta Films)

anglais Everything about the over-sweet Love in the Afternoon works. Old bards like Billy Wilder, Maurice Chevalier, and Gary Cooper are all in their proper places. The theme is great, even wonderful. It’s a classic clever romantic comedy exactly according to the pre-war pattern. Its only downside (and probably a prerequisite) for such a film to be made again in the 1950s was the presence of Audrey Hepburn, this then-fashionable figure. The Hepburn girl never could act much. She was just too skinny and looked different with her thick eyebrows and angular mikado, so it was thought it would work. But it never really worked, and it was just a fad that lasted for only a moment. Fortunately, Coop was able to deal with this little knot of misfortune. ()
